you are too funny – i really enjoyed your writing style – i felt we were sitting and chatting. give us more!
and jim may be right – hostel situations are different than everyday at home situations. we all know hostels are sharing situations – sleeping and nothing more!
where are you now? and i too love rita gelman golden.
i’m 50+ and everyone thinks i’m crazy for doing this. but why not?

Lovely lady, scare -d – cat. You say you believe in Jesus, yet you shy away from adventure . . .possibly the adventure of your life . . . sharing a room with three . . . possibly “high” men. What an adventure that could have been. You could have written a really “spicy” story. Or maybe they were all “gay’ and not interested in you . . .woman . . . or maybe they would have all been sound asleep at that hour. Or maybe “they” not being “virgins” would have respected you! BUT, now you will never know, and you let your fears, cost you a lot of money. Oh well, DC girl, maybe next time.

WOW!!!! You are indeed a very adventurous person. I became engross in this story, I need to read the rest, please continue it. In fact once you are finished writing it all, I suggest you send it to Readers Digest or some travel magazine. When I read the part about sharing a room with 3 men all I could think is that my new name would be “the Super Road Runner” that is how fast I would have gotten back to the airport. Thank God He watches over His children!

What an experience! LOL I’ve had my share of horrible experiences but just like you, managed to turn these around and later learn and laugh about it. The words ‘hostel virgin’ caught my eye. hahaha You’re no virgin now — hostel virgin, that is.

I would have just died with possibly having to share a room with 3 men. I have never been outside of the airport in Amsterdam but I did spend the night in Madrid airport. And that was scary enough.

What kind of theme is this that defaults to Arabic for comments?

Okay when I first started typing, everything was turning to Arabic then I saw the press ctrl+g for English. LOL. Not to mention, it’s typing backwards. Anyway, your story had me almost underneath of my desk cracking up. Sounds like you’re having quite an adventure. I remember my first experience at a hostel except, mine had massive cockroaches on the wall and I had to sleep with my sheet over my face for fear that one would crawl in my ear, not that it would fit how big these were or even worse, my mouth. The good thing is that you’ll find that folks are a lot friendlier and cordial than here…for the most part anyway. I wish I could be touring with you though. Sounds like fun. You’re truly a brave one!!!!.
