Just spoke with Denise, and her G1 phone on T-Mobile told her to deactivate the internet after crossing overseas. Otherwise, she would be hit will a huge $$ internet bill.

I definitely agree with traveling light – one small suitcase is ideal. I remember lugging a big suitcase down the stairs to get on the subway in Madrid – not fun. Also, if you have electrical/electronics devices already rated for 220-240W you don’t need a power converter – just the adapter. And make sure your bank doesn’t charge for currency conversion – some banks got in trouble for doing that a while ago but I wouldn’t be surprised if they still do it. What also helped is to read a guide book before you leave. I like Fodor’s but my friends like Lonely Planet. I thought I had a Fodor’s Spain book but I can’t find it. I do have a Rick Steves’ Spain 2005 if you’d like to borrow it
